Useful Information

KiwiCAM is being held in the Science Centre on Symonds St on the main campus of the University of Auckland from 29 Nov - 1 Dec 2019.

KiwiCAM Schedule

The conference will begin on the evening of Friday 29th November at 4.30pm with opening remarks by the organisers and the senior academics. This is followed by our first keynote lecture by Zohreh Doborjeh and a welcome reception. On Saturday 1st December we will start early with student talks and have our second keynote lecture by Suresh Muthukumaraswamy after lunch. There will be a social event on Saturday evening and we will conclude the conference on Sunday with a late picnic lunch.

A preliminary schedule of the conference is available here.

KiwiCAM attendees have the option of booking accommodation at the University Hall Towers located at 30 Whitaker Place, 5 minutes walk from the conference location at UoA, and 10 minutes walk from Queen Street and Krd.

These are King Single rooms priced at $97 per night if you are staying 1-2 nights and $92 per night if you stay 3 or more nights.

Bookings can be made by emailing and quoting KWCAM19. Payment is made at time of booking and is refundable up to 1week prior to arrival. Rooms are subject to availability.

Alternatively, there are backpackers and student hostels around the Auckland CBD but these should be booked ASAP as they will fill up quickly since it’s close to summer. Please note that there are several UoA campuses so make sure when you look for hostels that you are looking around the City Campus located at 23 Symonds St.

To and from the Airport:

The Sky Bus Auckland City Express has stops within walking distance of the University for $18 each way or $34 return.

If you’re travelling as a group it is often cheaper to use a shuttle, which can be pre-booked or booked when you arrive at the airport.

To and from the InterCity Bus Terminal:

The InterCity Bus Terminal on Hobson St is a 13 minute walk from the conference location or 8 minutes on the public bus.

Within Auckland:

Auckland’s busses and trains are both paid for with Hop cards which can be purchased from most CBD dairys for $10 and must be pre-paid. Alternatively, if you are planning on paying cash on buses and trains make sure you have correct change.!/journey-planner

Uber, Ola, and Zoomy rideshare apps all work in Auckland, but Ubers tend to show up faster.

We will provide you with internet access details on the day of the conference. You should also be able to access Eduroam anywhere on campus using your University login.
