Planning your trip

KiwiCAM officially kicks off first thing in the morning on Saturday November 10th, so plan to arrive Friday evening November 9th. There may be some unofficial student gathering Friday evening, but we will keep you updated. KiwiCAM ends Sunday November 11th, and we recommend you don't plan a flight back home before 6:00pm.

KiwiCAM will be held in the Management School on the University of Waikato Hamilton Campus (campus map). The campus is located about 3km from the city centre. We are arranging some accommodation close to the campus, and we will also recommend some options in the city centre.

College Hall

There are rooms available in one of the halls on campus for $80 per night plus a small administration fee. This price also includes continental breakfast in the dining room. To apply for one of these rooms, fill out the survey here

The next closest accommodation to the conference venue is UniMotel, which is 5 minutes' walk from the University. There are several double and triple rooms available at UniMotel for KiwiCAM attendees.

Double rooms have a king bed and a sofa bed. The cost is $120 per night for two people (there is a small additional cost to sleep three or four people).

Triple rooms have a king bed, a single bed, and a sofa bed. The cost is $140 per night for up to three people (a small additional cost to sleep four or five people).

Unimotel rooms come with free WiFi and free parking, complete with separated living, dining and sleeping areas, fully equipped kitchen, daily housekeeping and guest laundry facilities.

To book a room, please contact UniMotel (details below) and mention that you are with the KiwiCAM student conference.

Other motels & hotels

The next closest accommodation to the University is the Albert Court Motel, which is close to the river and only a couple of minutes walk from the Grey Street shops.

Accomodation options in the city centre include Quest, Novotell, and Ibis.

Getting around

Information about the shuttle service (SuperShuttle) running from the airport can be found here. There is also a Supper Shuttle app for iPhone and Android.

Uber has now (finally) found its way to Hamilton, and taxis can be booked through Hamilton Taxis online or by phone (0800 477 477).

Bus transport to and from the university on weekends is somewhat sparse. The number 13 bus runs between the city centre and the university hourly on weekends, but only until 6pm. So you may find that Uber, taxis, or shuttles will serve your transportation needs better. Information about bus routes can be found here, but the Hamilton bus service runs off Google Maps so using that directly is probably easier.
